"Words are free. It's how you use them that may cost you."
Silence is not Golden
It's cowardice. When learning a new language, your ego wants you to be perfect. It wants you to sound intelligent, sophisticated, and correct.
But you are a baby.
Accept it. You will sound stupid. You will use the wrong verb tense. You will accidentally insult someone's grandmother.
"If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head. If you talk to him in his language, that goes to his heart." — Nelson Mandela
The Volume Strategy
Stop whispering. When you speak a foreign language quietly, you are signaling insecurity. Speak LOUDLY.
- Make mistakes with confidence.
- Use big gestures.
- Laugh at yourself before anyone else can.
Fluency isn't about knowing all the words. It's about being comfortable not knowing them.
